
In addition to the primary value of fuel in incineration value per kilogram, the fuel (primarily diesel) also serves as cooling agent. Ninety percent of the pumped fuel is used for cooling in stead of incineration, in some cases.
Given the large amounts of fuel available, it’s relatively easy to keep an engine on the right temperature. However, when the fuel overheats it needs to be cooled with a water- or air cooled fuel cooler. Materials can vary from Cu, aluminum or stainless steel.
